This was my 1st protest. What a 1st protest. When I got up early this morning I was looking forward to my day. Here in Wisconsin its a little crisp in the morning's. How ever for November it should be a lot cooler outside. Got up got our things. Of coarse I got my husband talked into going with me. :) Love that man. We got our posters and headed out to Lacresent MN. That was our 1st stop to a great day.
We were meeting up with friends. We got there. Its a quite little town just over the bridge from Lacrosse WI. We were at the Army of Engineers building. There where so many like minded people there. We all care about our Water our Land and the fact that BIG OIL was polluting it in so many places. We were greeted with the local PD there. They where very polite and just wanted to let us know where we could protest. He seemed like a very like mind individual just doing his job. I say like minded because he just wants clean water for our children and Grandchildren and everyone else as well. Who wouldn't want clean water? There was a note on the door of the Army of Engineers Door saying that they were closed if anyone had questions they could call a number. MMM I guess they didn't want to answer anything or were just told they couldn't. That's of coarse my opinion. In no way is this coming from them.
There were 2 people that came by with a truck that stopped. One of the men yelled out his window well the other decided to get out on the passenger side. He yelled " You all need to go home and get a job." For his info there were quit a few that had jobs. How ever he didn't feel they did. We as protesters just chanted Water is Life. The Lacresent PD where very quick to have went up to the truck and had them pull to the side of the road farther down from us. Very professional of them. They did a great job. It could of got out of hand but it didn't. This was a peaceful protest and that's what it stayed at. I commend the police officers. Thank you for doing a awesome job.
There was a little girl there. She was such a little trooper and was joining in. I as a American was proud to see that her parents were teaching her that she can execute her rights and that I commend them for.
As the day went on my husband went home he had things that needed to be done. My friends and I headed for Winona MN for our 2nd protest. We got to the City Hall there and met up with people. The crowd was bigger here and we were heading to the bridge. where there was a walk way so we wouldn't be blocking traffic at all. We opened with a prayer. Headed out to the bridge which was a few blocks away.
On our way to the bridge the drummers' where drumming and we were chanting. I never had so much positive energy going through my body. It was so awesome to be a part of the #NoDAPL. The sun was so warm and beautiful. We had a mixture of people from our Elders to our youngest little ones. We even had pets which our like our family, our kids. I was so happy to be a part of this.
As we walked we went across some roads which we had a trucker not being so happy with us because he must of had some where to go. That didn't stop us we kept walking of coarse following all the rules that we were to follow. The sage smoke was every where just making it calmer I felt. We got to where we wanted to be on the bridge.
As we were on the bridge holding our signs we got flipped the bird quite a few times. Yelled at but we stayed strong and didn't let it bother us because the good and love that people showed us out did the bad. People where so happy to see us out there. They waved, honked, did a salute with there fist in the air: like you go. gave us piece signs and even thumbs up. The vibes off people where just so strong no one and I mean no one was going to bring us down. We were there to stand as one and to be noticed that we want big oil OUT. Water is our life. If we have bad water we will all die.
There is so much I could go into on this post but I won't. This is about my 1st time protesting and what I believe in. If we have no clean water we die. How can people not see what is happening now right in front of them. Oil companies are killing us. Our water is going bad because they cant contain the spills. So please go to http://helppa.org/ and to gasland on YouTube. There is so much to learn.
I'm going to end this with Piece and Love be with everyone. Spread love not hate. Water is life. Out With Big Oil
